The shooting in Anambra State that occurred at the convoy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represents the Anambra South District, was condemned yesterday by President Muhammadu Buhari as “barbaric and condemnable.”
Buhari stated that he was “closely monitoring the situation and waiting for further details on the response to the situation by the police, the military, and other security agencies,” according to a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
President Buhari condemns the attack on Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah as savage, according to the statement.
“We are highly concerned about the activity of armed organizations in the region and other regions of the country,” the President reportedly said.
“We are keeping a close eye on the situation and are awaiting more information on how the police, the military, and other security organizations are handling the worrying situation.
The nation has lost four valiant police officers as well as other senator’s staff members. I pay respect to these security personnel and the assistants who were cruelly slain on behalf of the government and the people. Our hearts go out to their families during this trying time, the message said in part.
Therefore, the President prayed for the senator’s rapid recovery as well as the wellbeing of everyone else who had been hurt.
He prayed for Anambra State and all other places to experience peace and security as soon as possible.
